Tennis Committee
Thank you to everyone who participated and supported our “Friends of Saratoga Spa State Park Mixed Doubles Tourney!”
Also thanks again to our volunteer tennis players that work countless hours on maintaining our pristine tennis courts all season long!
They make it a very special place!
One more thanks to Friends VP Kathy Dugan for helping us out, cooking hot dogs for us and Friends Treasure Peter Desmond who attended as well. We are fortunate to have such wonderful partners in the Friends of Saratoga Spa State Park!
Now for the news!
Congratulations to the tournament’s winners and runner ups!
South side court Champs were Mike Akker & Natalie Moor in a hard fought 6-5 tiebreak victory over Tony & Rachel Krackler.
North side court Champs were Sherwin & Debra So in another 6-5 tiebreaker over Girlie Sheehan and me. So much fun!
Our next mixed doubles event will be Saturday August 1st, the “Alok Vaid Memorial” Friends of Saratoga Spa State Park Mixed Doubles Tournament. More info to follow. Brad Winslow

Tennis
There are 8 Har-Tru (green artificial clay) tennis courts available to the public at no cost, on a first come/serve basis. No private lessons are allowed on the courts. The courts are located across from The Little Theatre and are maintained by The Friends of The Spa State Park. We ask that players limit their play to 1 and 1/2 hours when others are waiting, and sweep the courts when play is finished. Please be aware that sprinklers will go on at 12:45 pm for courts 1-4 and 2:30 pm for courts 5-8. Duration is approximately 5-10 minutes.
Our annual spring clean-up day is usually on the 2nd Saturday in April. We welcome volunteers to join us for an hour or two, help prepare the courts for the summer, and maybe have a hot dog off the grill. The fall clean-up day took place the 2nd week in November this year due to weather conditions allowing for an extended season.
We encourage those players who have enjoyed use of the current courts to consider a donation that will help maintain the current four courts plus the four additional courts. You can pick up a donation envelope at the courts (look for wooden box on the main gate), stop by the Administration Building, donate on our website or mail a check to 19 Roosevelt Drive, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
