Tennis Committee

Saturday, April 11 proved to be a great morning for the clay courts in the park and a great day for the Saratoga Tennis Community!
35 people showed up voluntarily to rake/shovel/lift and replace clay on the court surface for 2 hours to help ready all 8 courts for the next steps to get us closer to playing.
In addition to the work, what a wonderful community event this proved to be. We were able to visit with those we haven’t seen during the winter and to reflect on the many playing memories made over the years on our beautiful park clay courts.
Now that all is properly prepped, we will have the lines applied professionally and then the nets go up. We hope to begin play within the next few weeks.

Tennis

There are 8 Har-Tru (green artificial clay) tennis courts available to the public at no cost, on a first come/serve basis. No private lessons are allowed on the courts. The courts are located across from The Little Theatre and are maintained by The Friends of The Spa State Park. We ask that players limit their play to 1 and 1/2 hours when others are waiting, and sweep the courts when play is finished. Please be aware that sprinklers will go on at 12:45 pm for courts 1-4 and 2:30 pm for courts 5-8. Duration is approximately 5-10 minutes.

Our annual spring clean-up day is usually on the 2nd Saturday in April. We welcome volunteers to join us for an hour or two, help prepare the courts for the summer, and maybe have a hot dog off the grill. The fall clean-up day took place the 2nd week in November this year due to weather conditions allowing for an extended season.

We encourage those players who have enjoyed use of the current courts to consider a donation that will help maintain the current four courts plus the four additional courts. You can pick up a donation envelope at the courts (look for wooden box on the main gate), stop by the Administration Building, donate on our website or mail a check to 19 Roosevelt Drive, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

**Please check Calendar on the website for dates and particulars, the bulletin board on main gate of the courts, or call the Administration bldg, 584-2000 for questions.
