July 9, 2023 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

The Spa Complex Walking Tour

Join the Friends of Saratoga State Park on Sunday, July 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a tour of the Spa Complex with Spa Park history expert and Friends Board Member, Linda Harvey.

Discover the historical development, art, architecture, and landscape of this important component of the National Historic Landmark Saratoga Spa State Park.

The Spa Complex, 1932-1936, was developed under the leadership of Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt, as an ambitious project with the goal of increasing both therapeutic and recreational uses of the Park. The tour will discuss how this goal was satisfied with the construction of the seven contributing buildings – the Hall of Springs, Simon Baruch Administration and Research Center, the Roosevelt I and II Bathhouses, the Victoria Pool complex, the Gideon Putnam Hotel, and the Bottling Plant.

The tour begins in front of the Hall of Springs at 10:30 a.m.

Wear comfortable shoes and be ready to have fun.

Tours are free for Friends Members, and we suggest a $10 donation for the public to join us (we accept cash at the event or Venmo at: @FriendsofSpaStatePark) just put History Tour in the description.

We hope to see you there and stay tuned for more tour dates for the summer!
